PTSA is pleased to announce the 2026-27 theater production will be Hercules and the Golden Apple.  Pat and Terry are back to direct another fun-filled student performance.  Performances will be February 4 and 5, 2027 at the Redmond High School Performing Arts Center. 

Winking Kat has adapted the famous myth of Hercules and the Golden Apple into a fun and silly musical full of colorful characters from Greek mythology.  The focus is on one of Hercules' twelve labors.  Hera, wife of Zeus and always a nemesis of Hercules, constantly tries to thwart Hercules' quest to fulfill his many labors needed to free his soul from guilt.  She even suggests that he retrieve two golden apples from her special golden apple tree because she believes Hercules will never be up to the task and will fail.  But with help from his half-sister, Athena, the nymphs, and the Greek chorus, our hero might just succeed. 

Registration & Commitments

Registration Dates:    Opens Tues, Oct 20 @ 12:01am 

                                   Closes Fri, Nov 16 @ 11:59pm 

Eligibility:  Grades 2-5   

Time Commitment:   

• Mandatory Theater Parent Info Night (must attend one evening):  Nov 12 @ 6pm in the school library and Nov 16 @ 6pm online via Teams.  At this meeting, parents will:
  • Email a student headshot to theater@dickinsonptsa.org.  These aid the directors during auditions. 
  • Sign up for a student audition time slot
  • Sign up for at least one parent production team
  • Sign the parent contract + emergency contact form

• Auditions after school (must attend one audition):  Nov 19 @ 4:45-6:15pm or Nov 23 @ 5:15-6:45pm.  Students should be prepared to read or recite a few lines of something (poem, story, monologue) + sing a song (any song, Happy Birthday is fine) at their audition.  Please note:  If your student has registered and paid, they are guaranteed a part in the play.  Auditions are to assist the directors with making cast assignments.  Sign up for an audition slot at Mandatory Theater Parent Info Night. 

• Mandatory ALL CALL read-through and sing-through:  Dec 3 and 4 @ 4-5:30pm. 

• Mandatory ALL CALL dress & tech rehearsals:  Feb 1-3 @ 5-7pm at the Redmond High School Performing Arts Center. 

• Rehearsals:  Most MON, TUES, THURS (and some FRI) @ 4-5:30pm from Dec 7 through Jan 28 in the Commons (except conference week).  Then rehearsals move to Redmond High School Performing Arts Center Feb 1-3.  Your student will not rehearse every day; just on the days they are called (i.e. scheduled).  Students who show up on dates they are not called will be kept at rehearsals for safety, chaperones will call parents, and parents will pick up as soon as possible.  If your student must miss a rehearsal for sickness, vacation, or other reasons, please notify the producers as early as possible to be excused.  If absent for four or more rehearsals, directors and producers reserve the right to recast roles as needed. 

• Please send a healthy snack and book with your student.  When not actively rehearsing, students should engage in a quiet activity such as reading or homework.  

• Students must be picked up promptly from rehearsals at 5:30pm.  Parents must enter the school to sign out their student upon pick up.   

• Performances are Feb 4 @ 7pm and Feb 5 @ 7pm at the Redmond High School Performing Arts Center. 

Parent Commitment:  Parent support is required for this production!  Since theater is a PTSA-sponsored program, per our insurance and chaperone policies, your commitment as a parent includes the following:

• Be a PTSA member.  Verify purchase of a PTSA Membership here first; otherwise please purchase a 2026-27 PTSA Membership before registering for theater (24 hours needed for membership authorization).  

• Be an approved LWSD volunteer.
• Sign up for at least one production team during Mandatory Theater Parent Info Night:  Producer, Stage Manager, Assistant Stage Manager, Backstage Supervision, Cast Party & Directors' Gifts, Concessions, Costumes, Hair & Makeup, Playbill & Posters, Sets/Props/Background Design, Set Up & Clean Up, Ticketing, and Videographer.
• Chaperone at least two rehearsals.  Chaperone sign-up coming soon.
• Sign the parent contract, student behavior contract, and emergency contact form.

Fee:  $155

Financial Aid:  Available to those in need.  For more information, please contact the school counselor.

Cancellations:  For a refund, all cancellations must be requested by Tues, Dec 1.  Please email theater@dickinsonptsa.org and Cc the PTSA Treasurer with your cancellation request.  No refunds given after cast assignments are made!
